Be an Angel: Benefit planned for mother with cancer
LoKs Salon in Groton is hosting a benefit at Forty Thieves for a local single mother with pancreatic cancer.
Valerie Walker of Uncasville has two daughters, Alex (6) and Brooklyn (9). She was initially diagnosed with stage three cancer about a year ago, but the disease has since spread.
Tickets for the fundraiser, scheduled for noon-5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8, are $20 in advance on eventbrite.com and $30 at the door. Events for the day will include a raffle and music by DJ Jaypo and Big Lux, with all proceeds supporting Walker and her family through her treatment and recovery.
