Police investigating knife and shovel attack in Old Lyme that sent three to hospital

Old Lyme — Two people were stabbed and another was struck in the head with a shovel during a Saturday night fight in front of a home at 80 Rogers Lake Trail.

State police are investigating and said Sunday they expect to file charges.

Police said they received multiple 911 calls around 8:15 p.m. about a fight involving several people in front of the home, police said. State troopers and Old Lyme police responded and found a woman with a wound to the abdomen, reportedly from a knife.

They also found a man nearby, unconscious and suffering from a head wound, reportedly from a shovel.

Both were taken by ambulance to hospitals, police said. The man was treated and released, while the woman is listed as being in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.

Another man who was injured left the scene before police arrived. He was later found with two wounds that he said were from a knife, and a facial injury from being struck.

Police said he was also taken to the hospital where he was treated and released. Police said they seized evidence and identified witnesses as they continue their investigation.
