Helicopter, crew visit Coast Guard Academy to highlight aviation careers
New London — The flight crew of a United States Coast Guard HH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Air Station Atlantic City landed Friday on the Washington Parade Field at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.
The crew, which included Capt. Sean O'Brien, commander of the air station, was visiting the academy to highlight aviation careers in the service for prospective members of the academy's Class of 2024 as well as participants in the academy's Scholars Program, and high school students in attendance virtually as part of the Academy Introductory Mission program.
The crew also included Lt. Leigh Steinbeck, a 2015 graduate of the academy, and flight mechanic Estan Rooney. After landing, they took questions and gave tours of the aircraft for about two hours before returning to the air station.
