Former Stonington man murdered in Miami Beach
A 38-year-old Stonington native was killed by his longtime partner during an argument in a Miami Beach, Fla., apartment on Nov. 10.
Aborn D. Smith IV, a 2000 Stonington High School graduate known as "Denny," was repeatedly stabbed and struck with an ax and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to media and police reports. The partner, Alexis Otano, 27, fled but was arrested a few hours later and confessed to Smith's murder, saying he was upset that Smith had not contacted him in several days.
Smith's obituary states that after graduating high school, he attended college in New York City, lived in Thailand and most recently in Miami, where he recently opened a green cleaning company. He was an avid kakayer and a self-taught pianist.
