Stop wild claims, we're better than that

A ‘declaration of conscience' rebuttal, regarding letter to the editor, (Dec. 28).

The 25th Amendment in simple terms: when a president is unable to do his job he can be removed. The vice president becomes the president.

Evidence suggests the president has accomplished much; his combative style is another matter. The words "declaration of conscience" have a noble almost constitutional ring to the ear. Yet I have searched my favorite research source, the U.S. Constitution and other key American writings and nowhere did I find them used in such negative verse. I am a conservative who voted for Bill Clinton twice. Notwithstanding his moral character, I think he was a good president. When President Obama was elected, I hoped it would heal this country.

"Our" new president will be Joe Biden. We are still challenged with healing this nation. Negative opinions dripping with venomous accusations, i.e., associating President Trump with Hitler and claims of a military coup d’état are not a path to healing this Republic! I think we as a nation are better than that.
