Virtual presentation on Groton affordable housing plan to be held Wednesday
Groton — A virtual presentation will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 16, on the "relevant data regarding the state of housing in Groton and final draft recommendations for addressing the housing gap before the plan is forwarded to Town Council," according to a notice from the town.
This is the second of two public meetings for the affordable housing plan.
"Having a proactive plan that was developed with the community is an important tool for grounding decisions on future development applications, making evaluation easier and more transparent for all," the notice continues.
People can register at bit.ly/grotonah.
State statute requires every municipality in the state to prepare an affordable housing plan at least once every five years. Under this statute, municipalities have until July 2022 to adopt an affordable housing plan. The town engaged RKG Associates and a group of local stakeholders to develop a plan looking at the need for affordable housing.
The presentation from the first public meeting is available at youtu.be/MGnxxXXRy-k.
