Walk to End Homelessness is Sunday in New London

New London — The annual Walk to End Homelessness will be held on Sunday and it's live and in-person again this year.

The walk, which is designed to raise awareness about homelessness and also raise support for the programs of the Homeless Hospitality Center, is in its 14th year.

This year’s 1.5-mile walk starts at 1 p.m. Sunday at Parade Plaza in downtown New London. Registration begins at noon. Local band Dogbite will play at Parade Plaza starting at 11:45 a.m., and there will be a sign-making station for those who wish to carry a sign on the walk.

The walk is organized by the Homeless Hospitality Center and Connecticut College. Tickets are $15, and all proceeds benefit HHC. Mohegan Sun is the lead sponsor, with significant support also being offered by Yale New Haven Health and Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, St. Francis House, General Woodcraft, Filomena’s Restaurant, Antonino Auto Group, MJ Sullivan Auto, CT Communications, and BJ’s.

Walkers who raise the most support will have a chance to win prizes from Filomena’s Restaurant. First prize is a cocktail party for 15 people. Second prize is dinner for 15, and third prize is lunch for 15. Information about fundraising can be found at

HHC, founded in 2006, provides hospitality and a bridge to permanent housing for adults experiencing homelessness in New London County. It expects to serve about 600 individuals from across the region this year.
