East Lyme school board member attains master status

East Lyme – Board of Education member Jaime Barr Shelburn was recently recognized as a master board member by the Connecticut Association of Boards of Education.

The school system said in a release that Barr Shelburn was one of five Board of Education members across the state to attain master status based on numerous hours of board-related professional development activities during the 2020-21 school year.

Barr Shelburn, who has ben a board member for 14 years, received 50 credits last year through the association's Board Member Academy. Areas of focus included leadership, effective meetings, school/community relations, strategic planning, group dynamics, board member ethics, school finance, labor relations and school law. At least 40 credits are required to attain master status, according to the association.
