State police release holiday weekend stats; one highway fatality
State police reported Monday they responded to 7,500 calls for service over the Thanksgiving holiday, the period from midnight Wednesday through 11:59 p.m. Sunday.
Police investigated 543 accidents in which 46 people were injured, one fatally in an East Hartford crash. Fifty arrests for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs were made.
Seatbelt violations totaled 501, and 559 “other hazardous violations” were recorded, including offenses such as unsafe lane changes, following too closely and cellphone usage.

State's attorney won't bring charges in racist slur incident at Ledyard High basketball game
The New London State's Attorney's Office has found there is "insufficient evidence" to charge adult spectators from Bacon Academy who allegedly directed racist slurs towards girls basketball players from Ledyard High School after a Feb. 5 game.
