New lights for New London's new waterfront walkway
New London — High-tech green lighting fixtures are rising over the new walkway along the Shaws Cove waterfront.
Workers from Butler Construction, along with Aris Wind project engineer Christian Sbriglio, raised the second and third of the seven Aris Wind Remote Power Unit light towers Friday. The remaining four units will go up early next week.
Sbriglio said the units should be fully operational by the end of next week. They feature a 400-watt wind generator, 500-watt solar panels and two batteries providing three to five days of power.
Editor's Note: The amount of power generated by the wind and solar generators has been corrected.
