With beaches, a vibrant arts and cultural scene, ferries, trains, submarines and more, New London looks beautiful to buyers

Despite it being the height of summer, when local real estate markets typically cool off, the local market continues to be hot and competitive. Take New London, for example, where homes across price points — from condos at less than $100,000 to waterfront properties approaching $1 million — are giving buyers some great options right now. Here’s a look at some of the newly listed properties in New London, including a couple with upcoming open houses.

17 Grove Street, New London will be ready for showings today. Jacqueline Tacy, the listing agent with the RE/MAX Home Team in Uncasville, is hosting public open houses at the property this weekend, including today, Friday, July 1, from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m.; Saturday, July 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; and on Sunday, July 3, from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. This is a two-bedroom, two-bath ranch with 952 square feet of living space that was built in 1985. The property is just north of I-95 and within walking distance to Riverside Park. The asking price is $229,900.

Carter Briggs, a Realtor with William Raveis Real Estate in Niantic, is the listing agent for 77 Woodlawn Road, New London. This is a three-bedroom, two-bath Cape, with an attached one-car garage. The house debuted in 1938, and Briggs suggests it’s ready to move right in today. The 1,234-square-foot interiors have a bright personality, and the front-room windows frame views of Alewife Cove. The kitchen is decidedly retro, but the configuration and dimensions afford opportunity for an update. Hardwood flooring is found throughout most of the home. A mudroom with a utility sink is conveniently positioned just inside the garage. There’s a full unfinished basement with laundry hookups and space that could be reserved for storage or finished off for additional living space. The house is sited on a level, 0.12-acre lot in a neighborhood setting. The seller is asking $259,000.

Buyers may wish to bookmark the “coming soon” listing at 43 Riverview Avenue, New London, a four-bedroom colonial, with a covered front porch, four bedrooms, two baths and more than 1,700 square feet of living space. Danielle Verboski of RE/MAX Heritage in Westport is the listing agent for the seller, who is asking $284,900. Verboski has planned an open house for Saturday, July 9, from 10 a.m. to noon.

Pulling up before the three-bedroom Cape-style colonial at 34 Woodlawn Road, New London, the first thing that grabs your eye is the pop of front-door color and the contrast with the white siding. This single-family home was built in 1938 and is situated on a corner 0.12-acre lot — just around the corner from Ocean Beach, listing agent Emily Milano points out to intrigued buyers. Milano is a Realtor with Kings of the House, LLC, a brokerage based in Colchester.

The asking price for the 1,729-square-foot home is $309,000, and among its compelling attributes are hardwood floors in the formal dining room, an oversized living room with a fireplace, laundry hook-ups on the second level and in the basement, and a first-floor bedroom. Assigned schools for this address are the Nathan Hale Arts Magnet School (K-5), the New London Visual and Performing Arts Magnet School (6-9) and New London High School (9-12). Showings of the property are by scheduled appointment only.

The four-bedroom beach-adjacent home at 352 Pequot Avenue, New London is on the market for $829,000. The house sits waterfront, with a 40-foot boat dock, on the Thames River. Broker Derek Greene, who manages the Greene Realty Group in Worcester, Mass., is the seller’s agent. The 2,511-square-foot house has been renovated, with high-end finishes like a freestanding tub, doorless shower and dual vanity sinks in the primary suite’s bathroom. The house has lots of water-facing windows to maximize the water views; plus, there’s a balcony deck — a perfect perch to watch local boat, ferry and submarine traffic glide by.

Listed for $999,000, 524 Pequot Avenue, New London was recently introduced to the market by Realtor Cristina Ballelli, who’s affiliated with William Raveis Real Estate’s Mystic brokerage. This home sits waterfront on the Thames River and comes with its own private beach. The three- (or four-) bedroom colonial has been remodeled to include hardwood and marble floors, granite countertops and stainless appliances in the kitchen, a whole-house Bose sound system, two fireplaces, and a brand-new Thermospa hot tub — ready for first-time use. The house is appended by a one-car garage and a deck off the main level, which steps down to a beautifully paved patio and to the private beach.
