    Local roundup: Fenton’s goal lifts Old Lyme to victory

    Portland – Alexis Fenton’s goal in the second half broke a 1-1 tie and lifted Old Lyme to a 2-1 win over Portland in a Shoreline Conference girls’ soccer game on Thursday.

    Fenton’s goal came off a header by teammate Callie Bass. Sydney Goulding had an unassisted goal and Calla Gibson made six saves for the Wildcats (3-3-1, 3-2-1).

    H.S. swimming

    • The Fitch/Stonington/New London/Wheeler co-op remained unbeaten with an 80-72 win over NFA in an Eastern Connecticut Conference meet. Laura Letellier, Delaney Reck, Addison Fulling, Anna Orphanides and Jai-Lynn Wheeler each won an event for Fitch (5-0, 4-0) and Fulling, Wheeler and Orphanides teamed with Ashlyn Dunn to win the 200 medley relay.

    Natalie Bezanson, Hailie Davidson and Stephanie Herr won events for NFA (2-4, 1-3) and Dianna Alarcon, Kyla Viveiros, Mercedes Aleksjuka, Stephanie Wells, Willow Ludlow, Gianna Glennon, Herr and Bezanson combined to win two relays.

    H.S. field hockey

    • Emma Spathakis scored a pair of goals as Stonington remained unbeaten in the ECC with a 4-0 win over Killingly. Marina Lewandowski had a goal and an assist, Nora Walsh had two assists, Anna Lettiere scored a goal and Madi Allard made four saves for the Bears (5-2, 5-0).

    H.S. boys’ soccer

    • Nico Matteucci’s first-half goal lifted Bacon Academy to a 1-0 win over Ledyard in an ECC Division II game. Tyler Pulse assisted on the goal and Evan St. Louis made six saves for Bacon (5-1-2, 2-1). Ledyard is 3-4-1, 1-2.

    • Brody Pappas and Wyatt Hayes scored goals as Wheeler beat Ellis Tech 2-1 in a nonleague game. Drew Deary assisted on Pappas’ goal and Hayes scored on a header off a Matt Carroll free kick. Jon Anderson made three saves for the Lions (4-3-1).

    • Montville and Windham played a 0-0 tie in an ECC Division III game. Jayden Burrell made five saves for Montville (4-2-2, 1-1-1) and Bryan Alba Torres had five for Windham.

    • Old Lyme and Portland played to a 1-1 tie in a Shoreline Conference game. Liam Celic scored for the Wildcats (3-3-1, 3-2-1) with David Evers assisting and Jonah Lathrop made two saves. Cole Bates scored for Portland.

    H.S. volleyball

    • Wheeler beat Putnam 3-1 in an ECC Division IV meet. Skylar Morgan had eight kills and two blocks, Bryn Anderson had four kills and five digs and Michelle Macina had six kills and six aces for Wheeler (4-4, 3-0), which won 25-11, 21-25, 25-15, 25-22.

    College volleyball

    • Noelle Tursky had 10 kills and 18 assists as Coast Guard beat Westfield State 3-1 in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference match. Carmen Kipf had 21 digs, Maeve Duffin had 18 assists, Elizabeth Atkinson had 10 kills, Kaela France had 15 digs, Shannon Shaw had 14 kills and Sarah Somer had 11 kills for the Bears (12-4, 2-2), who won 25-19, 25-18, 18-25, 25-17.
