St. Thomas More to host special exhibition to honor Konchalski

Putnam Science Academy, the reigning national prep champion, will join host St. Thomas More on Tuesday, Jan. 31, to take part in a special exhibition basketball doubleheader.

The Chancellors will play NBA Africia at 4 p.m., followed by a game between Putnam Science and NBA Global at 6 p.m.

Fans will be asked to pay a $10 donation at the door with all proceeds going to the Tom Konchalski Foundation. The foundation provides need-based scholarships and financial assistance to student-athletes throughout the New York City area and beyond.

Konchalski, who died in 2021 after a long battle with prostrate cancer, was co-founder of the Five-Star basketball camp, author of the High School Basketball Insider Report, and a legendary figure on the high school and prep school level. He was recently nominated to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame as a contributor.

“Tom is credited with helping countless young men attain their dreams of playing intercollegiate basketball,” St. Thomas More Jere Quinn said. “He was a great friend to STM athletics.”
