Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment announces top-level appointments

Mohegan — Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment, which operates Mohegan Sun, announced Thursday the appointment of Michael Silberling as senior vice president and chief operating officer and Tom Smock as senior vice president and general counsel.

“The appointments position MGE for success in achieving the long-term goal of becoming a worldwide industry leader in integrated entertainment resort development and management,” the company said in a news release.

Silberling has more than 30 years of experience in global integrated resorts across the U.S. and the globe. Prior to joining MGE, he served as chief executive officer of Affinity Gaming, where he led a business turnaround. Before that, he was president of international operations for Caesars Entertainment and managing director of London Clubs International, where he oversaw 15 casinos across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Smock has more than 20 years of experience as an executive and in-house general counsel at casino gaming companies, including Aristocrat Technologies and Penn National Gaming, with significant experience in Macau, China and South America. He was senior vice president and general counsel and compliance chairman for all of Las Vegas Sands’ Asian-based companies, where he was instrumental in the development and opening of the region’s first foreign-owned casino, Sands Macau.

He also supported the development of the Venetian Macau and the internationally known Cotai Strip.
