Healthgrades: Backus among America's 250 best hospitals

Norwich — Backus Hospital has been named one of America’s 250 Best Hospitals, according to Healthgrades, a company that provides information about physicians, hospitals and health care providers.

The designation places Backus among the top 5% of hospitals in the country. Backus is one of three Hartford HealthCare hospitals named to the list for 2022, the others being Hartford Hospital and the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain.

Backus is also recognized by Healthgrades as a recipient of its pulmonary care, stroke care and critical care excellence awards, placing the hospital in the top 10% of the nation in each area.

“We are extremely proud of this distinction that recognizes the remarkable work being done at Backus Hospital every day,” said Donna Handley, president of Hartford HealthCare’s East Region. “To achieve this recognition during the ongoing pandemic is a testament to the quality of care provided by our colleagues and their commitment to our patients who matter most. From our clinical teams to our support staff, the resiliency and dedication everyone has shown has truly been an inspiration.”
