Sun acquire ex-UConn great Mosqueda-Lewis from Storm

Mohegan — Former UConn All-American Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis was traded to the Connecticut Sun on Monday from the Seattle Storm for a second round pick in the 2021 WNBA Draft.

Mosqueda-Lewis helped lead Seattle to the WNBA Championship in 2018, averaging a career-best 42 percent from the 3-point line during the Storm's title run. The 5-foot-11 guard has made 38 percent of her 3-pointers over the last two seasons while shooting 96 percent from the free throw line.

"We are excited to add Kaleena to our talented roster," Sun coach and general manager Curt Miller said in a release. "She has won championships at every level and has a reputation as a great teammate. Our offensive philosophy revolves around spacing with players that can help spread the floor. KML is one of the outstanding shooters in our game and will provide an important spark to our offense."

Mosqueda-Lewis was drafted No. 3 overall by Seattle in 2015 after playing on three consecutive NCAA championship teams at UConn from 2013-15. She graduated as the NCAA Division I career leader in 3-pointers made (398) and scored 2,178 career points. She was named the Most Outstanding Player at the Big East tournament as a freshman and earned MOP honors as a senior in the American Athletic Conference.

"I'm really excited to start a new journey in Connecticut," Mosqueda-Lewis said. "It was a second home for me for four years and I'm looking forward to being back."
