FELMY HOMER PUSHES DEFENDERS TO ANOTHER VICTORY IN HARRISBURG

A day after clinching their first Eastern League Northern Division title since 2002, the Connecticut Defenders continued to win Sunday in Harrisburg with a 6-3 victory over the Senators.

The Defenders (79-54) took the lead for good in the fourth inning on a two-run homer by Bobby Felmy, who also had an RBI single in the second. Connecticut added to its lead in the sixth on a solo homer by Ramon Castro (3-for-4, 3 runs) and made it 5-1 in the seventh on an RBI single by Sharlon Schoop.

Defenders reliever Dan Griffin (8-6) pitched four innings, allowing two hits, striking out five and walking none, to pick up the victory. Matt Yourkin pitched a scoreless ninth inning for his seventh save.

The Defenders will finish the series in Harrisburg at 7 tonight, as right-hander Darryl Maday (6-4) meets Senators righty Erick Arnesen (7-5). The team returns home Tuesday for an eight-game homestand to end the regular season before heading to the playoffs.
