New York-Penn League all-star event tickets go on sale today

The Connecticut Sun, who will host the New York-Penn League All-Star Game on Tuesday, Aug. 13, at Dodd Stadium, will begin selling All-Star event tickets today at noon.

The all-star festivities begin on Monday, Aug. 12, with a Gala Event at the Mohegan Sun Cabaret Theater at 6:30 p.m. The event, which costs $75, includes player introductions along with dinner and drinks.

On game day, a buffet luncheon will be held at the Holiday Inn in Norwich ($35) and will feature Jay Johnstone as the keynote speaker. Johnson spent 19 seasons in the big leagues with eight different clubs and later was a radio color commentator for the New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies.

The scene then shifts to Dodd Stadium for a Fanfest and Home Run Derby, and while teams are taking infield and batting practice there will be American League and National League autograph sessions starting at 2:45 p.m. First pitch is scheduled for 7:35.

Fans who purchase game tickets ($10 premium, $9 reserved, $8 grandstand) are welcome to take part in both events, as well as a post-game fireworks show.

An All-Star Pre-Game Party ($35) featuring hot dogs, hamburgers, BBQ chicken, salads, clam chowder, desserts and beverages starts at 5:15 p.m. in the BBQ Pavilion, and a Post-Game Party ($25) will take base on the third base concourse and in the BBQ Pavilion. That will feature a live band as well as food and drink for guests including Philly's: A Taste of Philadelphia and Southpaws Bar.

Tickets can by purchased by calling (860) 887-7962 or going online at www.cttigers.com.
