Spinner beat Tigers 3-1

The Lowell Spinners scored twice in the bottom of the third inning and went on to beat the Connecticut Tigers 3-1 in a New York-Penn League game Thursday night.
Brett Harrison was 3-for-4 with a triple, Steven Negron was 2-for-4 with a double and Pat Leyland had a run-scoring double for the Tigers (31-38), who play their regular-season home finale against the Spinners tonight at Dodd Stadium (7:05).
Connecticut starter Alex Phillips (4-3) took the loss, allowing seven hits and two earned runs over 6 2-3 innings. He struck out five with no walks.
Danny Bethea had two doubles for Lowell (38-29).
