    Wheeler Wins 4th Straight

    North Stonington — Todd Rapoport had 19 points and 11 rebounds and the Wheeler High School boys' basketball team won its fourth straight game on Wednesday, 64-50, over Lyman Memorial in the Eastern Connecticut Conference Small Division.

    Ben Carocari had 17 points and nine rebounds for the Lions (4-2, 2-1) and Conor Gleason scored 14 points.

    “We've tried to stress fundamentals in practice,” Wheeler coach Rob Oliver said. “We were lacking a bit on defense in this game, and in the second half, we came out and got back to stressing fundamentals.”

    Scott Murphy had 18 points to lead Lyman (2-5, 0-3).

    In other boys' basketball games:

    • R.J. Evans scored 25 of his game-high 29 points in the first half and Norwich Free Academy defeated East Lyme, 68-50, in the ECC Large Division. The Wildcats are 5-1, 1-0. Jon Nazarko had 14 points for the Vikings (2-5, 0-1).

    • Tony Gayle scored a team-high 16 points and New London stayed unbeaten with a 69-43 win over Plainfield in the ECC Small Division. Shakimm Curry scored 13 points for the Whalers (6-0, 4-0), who played without starter Allan Chaney. Corey Dilweg led Plainfield (3-4, 2-2) with 21 points.

    • Evan Jensen scored 21 points on 10-for-13 shooting and Ledyard defeated St. Bernard, 66-39. Bryant Tunstall added 16 points and Sean Lewis 10 for the Colonels (4-3). Joey Cyr led St. Bernard (0-6) with 12 points and Andre Curiel had eight points and 10 rebounds.

    •Rickie Geiler scored 24 points for Montville in a 67-62 win over Waterford. Peter Godin added 13 for the Indians (4-3). Marco Frausini scored 21 points for Waterford (3-3), including six 3-pointers. Joe Podurgiel added 16 points for the Lancers and Torren McCarthy had 13.

    • Mel Jaimes hit a pull-up jumper from eight feet out with 1.8 seconds remaining to lead Putnam to a 42-40 win over Tourtellotte to stay unbeaten in the ECC Small Division. Jaimes finished with a game-high 19 points for the Clippers (4-3, 3-0). Andrew Rice and Scott Coderre scored 10 points apiece for Tourtellotte (3-4, 1-3).

    •Luis Camacho scored 15 points to lead Windham Tech to a 53-46 win over Grasso Tech in the Constitution State Conference. Angel Rivera scored 14 points for Windham Tech, and Dan Roberts added 12. Shaqiyl Peck scored 12 points with 12 rebounds for Grasso Tech.

    • Josh DePasquale scored 21 points and Jason Salvas had 15 on five 3-pointers to lead Ellis Tech over Norwich Tech, 70-41. Jon Arraje added 10 points for Ellis Tech. Jon Draleau led Norwich Tech (0-5) with 13 points.

    H.S. boys' hockey

    •Tim Lebreux and Tim Costello scored in Bolton/Coventry/Lyman's 2-0 win over Norwich Free Academy. Kyle Manuilow made 46 saves for NFA (1-4, 1-1). Bolton/Coventry/Lyman is 6-1, 2-0.
