New London - Shirley M. Jones, 69, of 73 Connecticut Ave., died Monday, June 23, 2008, after a brief illness at Bridebrook Rehabilitation center in Niantic.

Mrs. Jones was born on May 13, 1939, in King George County, Va., She married William Russell Jones on Nov. 22, 1967, in New London. She retired from the Connecticut Department of Labor and later worked in the trust department of several area banks.

She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, William Russell Jones; her daughter, Teresa Shvonne Pemberton; and her grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents, Daniel Grimes and Mary Morton Malloy

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 26, 2008. There will be a one-hour calling hour at 10 a.m., prior to the services in Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home, 181 Ocean Ave., New London, CT 06320. Interment will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
