    Listen to how Santana goes

Carlos Santana will probably not surprise anyone Friday, when he and his band headline the Mohegan Sun Arena, if they decide to play typically incendiary versions of “Soul Sacrifice,” “Oye Como Va,” “Evil Ways,” “Smooth” and “Black Magic Woman.”

On the other hand, Santana, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame guitarist who turned 75 last week, might well be TIRED of playing those songs.

In that spirit – and as a great personal favor to Mr. Santana and his veteran band (who might enjoy shaking up the setlist, too) – here are my humbly requested choices for four songs from the artist’s expansive catalog that he rarely if ever performs but which would make me happy.

“Them Changes” (from “Carlos Santana & Buddy Miles Live!”)

    “Singing Winds, Crying Beasts” (“Abraxas”)

    “Hold On” (“Shangó “)

    “Flor d'Luna” (“Moonflower”)

Oh, and DO expect a fine sprinkling of material from his 2019 “Africa Speaks” album.

    Santana, 7 p.m. Friday, Mohegan Sun Arena; $199.50, $99.50 & $89.50; www.mohegansun.com.
