ECSO kicks off new season Saturday

The Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra starts their 2022-23 season Saturday night in their Garde Arts Center home ballpark.

The program is damned impressive. Music director and conductor Toshiyuki “Toshi” Shimada welcomes guest soloist and Grammy award-winning cellist Sant’Ambrogio, who will play the Elgar Cello Concerto. In the second half of the concert, the ensemble will undertake the musical adventure known as Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony.

For more information on the ECSO’s new season, see Friday’s Daybreak section.

Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra, 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Garde Arts Center, 325 State St., New London; $12-$65; www.ectsymphony.com, 860-444-7373.
