    Punk, performed punkily

New Haven’s ever-changing, multi-member punk collective Mitch Kramer performs Friday in New London at 33 Golden Street.

Guitarist Jeffrey Thunders of Mitch Kramer

Here’s where it gets confusing — or perhaps we’re trying too hard to be intuitive. Mitch Kramer determinedly plays old-school lo-fi punk music, and it could be postulated the band name is an homage to Mitch Ryder and Wayne Kramer.

The band’s only permanent member is a fellow called Jeffrey Thunders — who presumably is so-called in tribute to the late New York Dolls guitarist Johnny Thunders. Either that or there really ARE people whose last names are “Thunders” and Johnny and Jeffrey just happen to be two of them who also are/were punk rockers.

In any case — at least according to Jeffrey Thunders and Mitch Kramer — hardcore punk will never die! Murder Van, Marones and The Last Survivors are also on the bill.

    Mitch Kramer, 9 p.m. Friday, 33 Golden Street, 33 Golden St., New London; $10; (860) 443-1193.
