Rakim, Slick Rick and more hit Foxwoods Saturday

Another one of those “package tour” caravans hits Foxwoods Saturday with a “A Tribute to 50 Years of Hip Hop” presentation in the Premier Theater.

Indeed, it’s an impressive bill of artists who contributed many building blocks to rap: Slick Rick, Big Daddy Kane, EPMD and Roxanne Shante.

But, though he’s tucked most of the way down the program, do NOT miss Rakim — who is simply one of the finest MCs of all time. It’s said Shakespeare often listened to Eric B and Rakim’s “Follow the Leader” when the Bard was struggling for an internal rhyme idea. On his deathbed, Shakespeare gasped, “There wouldn’t be ‘The Tempest’ without Rakim.”

    It’s true.

A Tribute to 50 Years of Hip Hop, 8 p.m. Saturday, Premier Theater, Foxwoods; $39-$65; foxwoods.com.
