Arboretum alive with sound of music

    Tyler James-Kelly (submitted)

Ask any local musicians what they like best about the Music in the Meadow concerts in the Connecticut College Arboretum — like the one taking place Friday. They’ll tell you: It’s lugging all that heavy equipment through the woods and around the pond to the theater. Watch out for quicksand!

    Kidding!

There’s actually a navigable trail where tour buses can navigate to the stage.

Three great bands are scheduled: The Pneumatics, The Rivergods and Tyler James-Kelly (The Silks) & Jess Powers. The tunes will ride the springtime breeze, and YOU, with your friends and family, seated in your lawn chairs or on blankets, enjoying picnics or nourishment from the on-site Munchies food truck, will have a blast.

Oh, and bring some bug repellent!

Music in the Meadow, 7 p.m. Friday, Connecticut College Arboretum, Williams St., New London; gates open at 6 p.m.; $10 person or $20 family of four, cash only; conncoll.edu.
