    All hail Alewife Cove

There are two types of people: those who live on (and appreciate) Alewife Cove and those who WISH they lived on (and appreciate anyway) Alewife Cove.

Yes, the lovely inlet on the boundaries of New London and Waterford, and its tangential nature trail, is an amazing place for families, visitors, conservation groups and the summer youth programs sponsored by the New England Science and Sailing Foundation.

On Saturday, the Alewife Conservancy’s Annual Benefit Bash takes place in the Port ‘N’ Starboard Room at Ocean Beach Park. In addition to helping maintain the natural beauty and environment of the cove, the gathering provides, well, fun! Rock band the Rakes perform and there will be raffles, auctions, heavy hors d’ouerves.

Alewife Cove Conservancy’s Annual Benefit Bash, 7 p.m. Saturday, Port ‘N’ Starboard Room, Ocean Beach Park, 98 Neptune Ave., New London; $35; alewifecove.org.
