Maynard James Keenan is turning 60, and the distinctive fellow – a successful vintner and also frontman for the rock bands Tool, Puscifer and A Perfect Circle – celebrates with another Sessanta.

“Sessanta” was the title of a supposed one-time-only event invented to celebrate Keenan’s, ah, 50th birthday. But it’s a decade later and another Big Birthday, so it’s happening again!

Can we look forward to a Sessanta every 10 years?

Meanwhile, yes: Puscifer and A Perfect Circle, with similarly delightful musical kooks Primus, take the stage Friday in the Premier Theater at Foxwoods in a sort of round-robin approach to the ol’ rock concert/birthday Bacchanal.

Members of each act will float in and out of whatever configuration is onstage so that, while “Primus” or “A Perfect Circle” or “Puscifer” might be by-definition performing at any given moment, who knows which folks from the other acts might join in for assured harmonic strangeness?

To be very clear, Tool is NOT part of this gala. That’s OK. There’s plenty of kookery to go around -- possibly even a group encore of Primus’ “Shake Hands with Beef.”
