    A truly Ace evening

    Ace Frehley (submitted)

Does anyone know what any of Ace Frehley’s solo music sounds like?

Of course they do! The fans of Frehley, that is.

You recall Frehley was, for the golden years, the lead guitarist for Kiss before he left to, I guess, have a solo career. It’s sort of a moot point, I suspect, because when Frehley headlines the Mohegan Sun Arena Sunday — and even though he has a new album called “10,000 Volts” — fans can expect a set list heavily stuffed with Kiss songs and not solo songs.

Also performing in the middle of a three-band bill is Slaughter, whose place in the metal pantheon is anchored by the songs “Up All Night” and “Fly to the Angels.” The latter tune has caused many to wonder whether the figure flying TO the angels is IN FACT an angel him- or herself inasmuch as one of the main differences between angels and humans is the ability to fly.

The biggest surprise of the night — and every reason to get to the arena on time — is that Aldo Nova is opening. No idea why this guy wasn’t a huge star. Hopefully, he’ll play “Under the Gun” and the fine ballad “Ball and Chain” to go along with his hit “Fantasy.”

Ace Frehley, 7 p.m. Sunday, Mohegan Sun Arena; $49 and up; mohegansun.com.
