Enlightened and simultaneously curious thinkers probably operate best with the stimulus of music. It's as though New London's Cabaret Voltaire utilizes that sentiment as a guiding principle — or at least one of them.

A private-event venue that functions as a recording/rehearsal space as well as a spot for curated perforances, Cabaret Voltaire on Sunday hosts a house-party concert featuring Providence singer-songwriter Mountainess. With a voice like a young Judy Collins, Mountainess has a pastoral, haunting way with a tune that might cause Sufjan Stevens to wrap a quilt around his shoulders and stare hypnotically at the fire he built in his recently purchased cabin in a Norwegian forest.
