Sure, there are plenty of wonderful arts festivals around this region, but let’s face it: the Mystic Outdoor Art Festival is the biggest (and dare we suggest the best?) of them all.

This event, after all, brings in more than 85,000 people each year to see the work by upwards of 230 artists. This is a juried show, pulling artists from around America and featuring every kind of art, from oil paintings to sculpture to photographs to comics.

The 62nd annual Mystic Outdoor Art Festival happens this weekend, and works of art will line the sidewalks of downtown Mystic.

The festival is held by the Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce.

    Mystic Outdoor Art Festival, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday, downtown Mystic; free; www.mysticchamber.org.
