Books about CT artists focus of signing event Tuesday at Bank Square

    Author Lary Bloom (Nancy Dionne)

Minimalist/conceptual sculptor Sol LeWitt, a longtime resident of Chester, and Impressionist painter Mary Rogers Williams, a Hartford native, were two of Connecticut's most significant artists — and each is the subject of a recent biography.

Lary Bloom is the author of "Sol LeWitt: A Life of Ideas," and Eve M. Kahn wrote "Forever Seeing New Beauties: The Forgotten Impressionist Mary Rogers Williams, 1857-1907." Both will appear Tuesday in Mystic's Bank Square Book to discuss and sign copies of their new titles.

The event is part of the store's "Holiday Gift Guide Book-Signing" series, so ease a bit of Santa's gift-toting burden AND give the gift of art history by proactively seizing this opportunity.

Lary Bloom and Eve M. Kahn, 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Bank Square Books, 53 West Main St., Mystic; free; (860) 536-3795.
