Poetry is the 'Word' at Hygienic

Local poets continue to make (critically acclaimed) noise. In celebration thereof, "First Word/Last Word" are two presentations that bookend Hygienic XXXVI.

On Saturday afternoon in the Telegraph Record Store, "First Word," headed up by Good Cop/Bad Cop publisher/writer Daniel S. Boroughs, takes place. Part open mic and part poetry competition, each participant will read two works.

Featured poets include Jake St. John (whose latest collection, "Rotations," is just out from Cleveland's NightBallet Press), Rhonda Ward, Ken Cormier, John Greiner, Seth Howard, Paul Belbusti and more. Judges, selected from the audience, award cash prizes to the top three poets.

On Feb. 9, the similarly organized "Last Word" reading takes place at the Hygienic Galleries.
