Fall Exhibit opens at Maple and Main Gallery in Chester

“Palio of Siena” by Linda Talerico

Hard to say how many parents out there are wringing their hands because college tuition can run upwards of $60,000 a year and some of the kiddos are majoring in, ah, art history. Well, I happen to like “art” and the history thereof, and it’ll be worth every cent, Mom and Dad, if your offspring can quantify which of the four seasons inspires the most artists. I’m betting it’s autumn — and not just because the sixth annual Fall Exhibit opens Wednesday at Maple and Main Gallery in Chester. The opening reception takes place from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday and will introduce works from 42 established and emerging Connecticut artists. Musician Alan James performs during the opening, and wine, appetizers and chocolates will be served. Show runs through November. Meanwhile, in Maple and Main’s Stone Gallery, “Abstract Imaginings,” featuring pieces by painter Victoria Sivigny and sculptor Ashby Carlisle, is on display until Sept. 30. The gallery is at One Main St., Chester. Hours 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Wed.-Sat and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sun. (860) 526-6065.
