Two new exhibitions open Friday in the Lyme Art Association

“Beaverbrook Farm in Winter” by Joan Wallace (Photo submitted)

We live in a part of the world that celebrates all four wonderfully distinct seasons. This is frequently reflected in the exhibitions at our galleries and museums wherein curators plan shows that celebrate the current time of year. Consider “Wonders of Winter,” one of two shows, along with the “24th Annual Associate Artist Exhibition,” opening Friday at the Lyme Art Association. It’s occurred to me that, occasionally, it would be fun if one of these seasonal art displays focused on the opposite season — a fall show during spring, etc. — in a whet-the-appetite fashion. But that’s okay. Both of the new exhibits at LAA are particularly fine. The Associate Artist presentation is in the Association’s front galleries; “Winter” is showcased in the Goodman Gallery and both run through Feb. 26. The Lyme Art Association is at 90 Lyme St., Old Lyme. Hours noon-5 p.m. Wed.-Sun.; (860) 434-7802.
