Schemitzun returns for the 28th year, featuring traditional and contemporary tribal dancing, drumming, live music, and more, all held this weekend at the Mashantucket Pequot Cultural Grounds.

This Feast of Green Corn and Dance Powwow will also feature authentic Native American craft vendors. Visitors can sample Native American cuisine, from chowders to wild game to seasonal fruit beverages.

They can also see a 17th-century Eastern Woodland Village, where traditional Pequot cultural practices will be on view.

Two important notes from organizers:

Public parking is available at the Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center, Foxwoods Resort Casino, The Fox Tower, and Two Trees Inn, and then you take free shuttles between there and the Schemitzun site. There is limited onsite parking for staff and registered participants only.

They “strongly recommend” you bring cash if you’re intending on buying items while there. There is a sole ATM at the location, and while credit and debit cards are OK for admission, some craft and food vendors might only take cash.
