Thirty years after he painted the iconic Great Sperm Whales mural along Eugene O’Neill Drive here in New London, internationally renowned environmental muralist and conservationist Wyland returns to replace the piece.

All our welcome to come visit as the new mural comes into focus from March 31 through April 3. There will be a dedication ceremony on Monday, April 3 to celebrate the renewal of this important gateway to our city as well as launch the Wyland Foundations annual National Mayor’s Challenge. More details to come soon.

This project is a partnership between the City of New London and the New London Cultural District and was made possible through a significant Community Challenge grant awarded by the Connecticut Office of Development and Planning.

The community is invited to participate in the Mitchell College Out of the Darkness Campus Walk 2023, beginning at the Mitchell College Green. Register ahead of time online or on the day of the walk and join an existing team, create your own team or register as an individual. Participation is free, but it is a fundraiser, and the day’s overall goal is $5,000. If you create your own team, you can set your own unique fundraising goal. The funds raised help to support the AFSP.

All are welcome to join us on our campus as we remember loved ones lost to suicide and support suicide prevention. Together we can change the conversation and end the stigma behind suicide and mental health.

For information and to register online go to http://www.afsp.org/campuswalks and search on Mitchell College.
You may register on site starting at 11:30 a.m.; walk is at 1 p.m.
