Thirty years after he painted the iconic Great Sperm Whales mural along Eugene O’Neill Drive here in New London, internationally renowned environmental muralist and conservationist Wyland returns to replace the piece.

All our welcome to come visit as the new mural comes into focus from March 31 through April 3. There will be a dedication ceremony on Monday, April 3 to celebrate the renewal of this important gateway to our city as well as launch the Wyland Foundations annual National Mayor’s Challenge. More details to come soon.

This project is a partnership between the City of New London and the New London Cultural District and was made possible through a significant Community Challenge grant awarded by the Connecticut Office of Development and Planning.

And to make it even better, it is all for a good cause! All proceeds will be donated to the medical fund for the pets at the Ledyard Animal Control! Find us at the Ledyard Lower Town Green by turning into the library entrance at 718 Colonel Ledyard Hwy and following the signs to enter the gate. Pets are welcome but must be on a leash.
