Storytelling Festival takes place this weekend in New London

The Connecticut Storytelling Center is holding its 42nd annual Storytelling Festival and Conference Friday and Saturday in downtown New London.

The weekend event offers performances and workshops in the art and application of storytelling, featuring headliner Len Cabral, who has performed at festivals throughout the United States and abroad. Joining him is a line-up of professional storytellers, including Simon Brooks, Tom Callinan, Jezrie Marcano-Courtney, Sara deBeer, and emissaries from the Kenyan Maasai tribe.

The festival’s primary audience is adults, although children and families are the focus for Saturday afternoon’s Family Concert at the All Souls Unitarian Universalist Congregation on Jay Street, featuring Cabral.

The Connecticut Storytelling Center, a local non-profit whose mission is to promote the living art and use of storytelling, is located at the Thames Club in New London.

Schedule and registration details are at www.connstorycenter.org/festival.htm.
