Mystic Aquarium is marking its 50th year, so Mystic and the Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce are pulling out the stops to celebrate on Saturday. It all culminates in a fireworks display.

Everything kicks off at 1 p.m. at the Mystic River Park with a ceremony led by Susette Tibus, president and CEO of Mystic Aquarium, and featuring local dignitaries.

Then comes the Chili Fest, where folks can try chili from 10 local venues.

And finally it’s time for fireworks, at 7:30 p.m. over the Mystic River near Mystic Seaport Museum. The fireworks are sponsored by Foxwoods Resort Casino.
