Glow egg hunt in Groton on Friday

Editor’s note: This version corrects the date of the Noank Baptist Church Family Ministries’s glow egg hunt in Groton to Friday.

As if the candy aisle at every store doesn’t give it away, this Sunday is Easter.

That means that Saturday is time for some Easter egg hunts, and, sure enough, our area has a number of those happening.

    Among them:

Children scramble for Easter eggs during the annual City of Groton Easter Egg Hunt at the Groton City Municipal Building.

The Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center hosts a Woodland Egg Hunt on Friday.

Kids up to age 10 look for eggs on the center’s trails. They trade those for wooden eggs, which they decorate back at the site. Participants are asked to bring their own basket to hold the eggs, and they are limited to four wooden eggs.

You have to register in advance, for specific time slots between 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Cost is $12 for kids up to age 10, $5 for adults.

LIFEhouse Church in Groton is holding its Easter service at 10 a.m. Sunday, followed by children’s egg hunt for kids up to age 11 and a photo booth at the church at 79 Maxon Road in Groton. It’s free and open to the public.

The Noank Baptist Church Family Ministries offers a glow egg hunt starting at 7:15 p.m. Friday at the Noank Playground, 31 Main St., Groton. There will be games on the tennis court, and at dark, the hunt will be on for 600 glow eggs. According to the organizers, “The eggs will be empty because the Tomb will be empty come Sunday. All participants in the egg hunt will be awarded a CANDY bag and encouraged to return eggs as they exit.”

The Dino Easter Egg Hunt takes place at The Dinosaur Place in Montville during the site’s opening day of the season on Saturday. The event is divided up by age, so the competition is more fair, but as of press time, the ages 2-4 and 5-7 sessions were sold out. Visit naturesartvillage.com to check if openings are still available in other ages groups. The cost is free for kids under 2 who aren’t participating, $18.95 for kids under 2 who are participating, $34.95 for ages 2-7, $31.99 for ages 8+, and $26.95 for adults.
