Join the Museum for a delightful panel discussion featuring members of the Connecticut River Gateway Commission. Now celebrating its 50th anniversary, the Gateway Commission operates within a 21,500-acre Conservation Zone which encompasses the Connecticut River estuary, its shoreline, and the landscape up to the first ridgeline. Gateway’s impact comes in part through its ability to influence zoning standards as a tool for protecting the visual, including scenic and historic, qualities of the lower river view shed.
Its success was not assured, and in fact, there were many challenges.
