    Adult Programs Offered at Arts Center Killingworth

    Acrylic & Oil Painting: Fridays, Feb. 8 and 15 and March 1, 8, and 15 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Artists work from still life set-ups or photos to learn composition, color mixing, starting a painting, developing to a finished stage, and working with final values to make it cohesive and dynamic. Participants will also gain a better understanding of color theory, composition, and more. Demos of painting techniques included. Beginner to advanced levels. Watercolorists welcome. Fee: $160. Make-up date is March 22.

    Lap Loom Weaving Workshop: Sunday, Feb. 3 from 1 to 5 p.m. Fee: $60, plus $5 material fee. Using a Beka rigid Heddle loom and guided by an experienced weaver, make a unique table mat while learning weaving basics. Choose colors, learn to prepare the loom, weave fabric, finish a mat, and plan the next project. Looms provided for workshop, but may be purchased at student price.

    Encaustic Painting Workshop I: Sunday, Feb. 10 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This is a hands-on, intensive workshop in which participants will explore the versatility of encaustic painting with molten, pigmented beeswax. Learn to build layers, texture, fuse, stencil, embed objects, incise, image transfer and collage. All levels. Fee: $125, plus $35 material fee.

    Painted Designer Silk Scarf: Sunday, Feb. 17 from 2 to 4 p.m. This is an introductory workshop that includes hand-painting two luxurious silk scarves. Interactive session gives a solid understanding of silk painting using a variety of colors. Fee: $35.
