English Toffee Cookies with Chocolate Chip

McQuade's Market, Mystic

I've famously — around my house, anyway — eat a worm if it was coated in toffee. Fortunately, McQuade's only had toffee cookies when my thoughtful wife made an impulse buy as a loving gesture to appease my sweets cravings. These cookies — several in a cellophane wrapper for $4.95 — are inspired and possibly even Divine. They're thin with an exterior toffee lacquer and just enough chocolate chips to NOT overpower the toffee. I've been putting them in the freezer for added snap. Just outstanding.
