Food tip: Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich, Engine Rooom

Nashville Hot Chcken Sandwich

Engine Room, 14 Holmes St., Mystic

Instead of fretting about whether Popeye's will have its crazily popular chicken sandwich in stock, head to Mystic and enjoy the Engine Room's version. Engine Room serves a chicken breast open face on a roll, smothered with a delicious spicy sauce, a dab of house mayo and a few pickles. The spiciness level pushed a little past medium — perfect for my palate. As a side, you can pick house-cut fries, mac salad or (my choice) tangy potato salad. Granted, the $13 price is more than you'd spend at Popeye's, but how good can their sandwich really be?
