    Gaspar’s wins Chowder Challenge

    Gaspar's restaurant has won the 2014 Great New London Chowder Challenge, part of the Connecticut Maritime Heritage Festival, which was held Sept. 11 - 13.

    Twenty downtown New London restaurants participated in the Chowder Challenge, and festival attendees voted for their favorites. Gaspar's special Lobster Bisque came out on top.

    Chef Eric Delano and Sous Chef Jeff Riotte used a mix of lobster, blonde roux, Harvey's Bristol Cream and lemon juice to come up with their winning formula. Delano and Riotte, along with Gaspar's owner Chris Leitkowski, recently received their first place prize from 2014 Connecticut Maritime Heritage Festival Chairman John Johnson (above).
