Three local teams — East Lyme girls' soccer, Stonington boys' soccer and Waterford volleyball — will be playing for state championships on Saturday.

All three won semifinal games on Tuesday night while a fourth local team, Ledyard boys' soccer, was beaten by top-seeded and unbeaten Ellington 3-0 in Class M.

East Lyme, the 13th seed, defeated No. 8 Sheehan 1-0 in the Class L semis on a second-half goal by Liv Catanzaro while Tyler Fidrych and Sam Montalto scored two goals apiece as No. 2 Stonington avenged last season's semifinal loss to Plainville with a 4-0 victory in Class M and No. 11 Waterford cruised to a 25-15, 25-20 and 25-9 victory over No. 15 Haddam-Killingworth in a Class M semifinal at Fitch High School.

East Lyme will play either Suffield or Guilford while Stonington will face Ellington at sites and times to be announced. The soccer championship games will be held at either Dillon Stadium in Hartford of Willow Brook Park in New Britain.

Waterford, meanwhile, will play Seymour, the top seed and defending champion, on Saturday at 1 p.m. at East Haven High School.

Waterford's Ryleigh Gonyo (3), Angela Colonis (9), Briana Muuckle (95) and Rachel Miller celebrate a point during the third game of the Lancers' 3-0 victory over Haddam-Killingworth in the CIAC Class M volleyball semifinals on Tuesday night at Fitch High School. Waterford will play Seymour in Saturday's final at 1 p.m. at East Haven High School. (Sean D. Elliot/The Day)
