Checking in with Chase: “I’ve been very fortunate to have amazing coaches, coach (Ben) Bowne and coach (Jeff) Parkinson, who have not only led our team to great success but made every day of training an awesome experience. I thank them for all their guidance, along with teammates Rhys Hammond and Andrew Castagliuolo, who are two of my closest friends. The chemistry we’ve created off the track and at practice comes to life when it’s time to compete.”
What you need to know about Chase: Flynn was the 2020 Eastern Connecticut Conference Division II indoor track champion in the 600 meters (1 minute, 27.87 seconds). He teamed with George Limberakis, Castagliuolo and Hammond to win the 4x400 relay (3:36.33) at that meet. Flynn also combined with Christian Hudson, Castagliuolo and Hammond to win a Class M title in the sprint medley relay (meet record 3:37.90). He and his teammates also stood out because of their hairstyles. “The idea of the mullets was originated from coach Bowne and coach Parkinson,” Flynn said. “After this idea was heard, Rhys took initiative and got a mullet for the ECC indoor meet. This is when our relay team decided the only option was to have a mullet relay team. Our team did receive lots of comments and attention.” Flynn calls the highlight of his indoor season qualifying for the New England meet in the 600, finishing fifth at the State Open in 1:24.18, despite running in the second-fastest heat. He has a passion for cars thanks to his dad; his favorite car is the BMW 335is and his dream car is a BMW M6. "I hope that we will have a spring season, not only because it’s my final season as a senior,” Flynn said, “but because of the potential we have as a team to leave another lasting mark on what Stonington track and field is capable of with the best coaching and a well-connected team.”
