    CHSCA announces all-state soccer teams

    Six local players, including two each from Lyman Memorial and Montville, were named to the 2020 Connecticut High School Coaches' Association Class S all-state boys' soccer team, which was released on Wednesday.

    The CHSCA announced its eight boys' and girls' all-state teams, which featured the selection of 19 local players.

    The Class S boys' team featured Lyman's Drew Archer and Hilts Housan-Berglind along with Montville's Cesar Amaya and Jacob Rose. They were joined by Griswold's Matthew Ladd and Old Lyme's Michael Milazzo.

    Stonington junior Sam Montalto, who became the Bears' career goal-scoring leader this season, highlighted the Class M team which included Ledyard's Daimon Pollard and Nick Washington, Waterford's Alex Ard and Bacon Academy's Ty Stanchina. Fitch's Tim Lynch and East Lyme's Cooper Pazzaglia were named to the Class L team and Norwich Free Academy's Marc Josephat was selected to the Class LL team.

    Old Lyme's Emily DeRoehn, the 2020 Shoreline Conference Player of the Year, highlighted the Class S all-state girls' team which included St. Bernard's Lindsay Clement and Lyman Memorial's Madilyn Crawford, while Stonington's Vanessa Benjamin was selected to the Class M team and East Lyme's Meredith Healy to the Class L team.
