    H.S. volleyball: East Lyme outlasts Lyman Memorial in five games

    East Lyme — East Lyme remained unbeaten by outlasting Lyman Memorial, 3-2, in a battle between two of the Eastern Connecticut Conference's top volleyball teams on Wednesday night.

    Game scores were 22-25, 25-17, 25-23, 21-25 and 15-9.

    Nina Sheehan finished with 12 digs for the Vikings (4-0) while Ella Freed added 14 kills and six aces, Shae McMunn had 40 assists and Shannon Pierce 13 kills.

    The Bulldogs (1-1) were led by Kassidy LaTour with 39 assists, Callie Nanos with 14 kills and Fallon Bailey with 13 kills and five aces.

    In other matches:

    • Norwich Free Academy defeated Ledyard 3-2 in its season opener. Paige Perkins led the Colonels (2-1) with five kills, two aces and four blocks while Bryleigh Johnson had 12 digs, Grace Haydash 10 digs, Aaliyah Amidon five kills and eight assists, and Layla Lasisomphone eight assists.

    • Fitch opened its season with a 25-23, 25-18 and 25-19 win over Griswold in the Falcons' coaching debut of Elena Lockett. Madi Aldinger had 14 digs for Fitch while Annalyn Cahill added nine kills, Katie Tuohy eight kills and Rita Sefransky 19 assists. Hailey Eliasson had 17 digs and an ace for the Wolverines (1-1) while Kuranda Ruggiero added 12 assists, three kills, three aces and six digs, Sonja Mathewson had six kills, eight digs and one ace, and Gretta Dombkowski had eight assists, two kills, one block and one ace.

    • Norwich Tech defeated Grasso Tech 25-14, 25-12 and 25-16 in the Connecticut Technical Conference Oak Division. Autumn Lovett had two kills, six assists and four aces for the Warriors (2-0, 2-0) while Ashlyn Bill added six kills, four aces and one block, and Gabriella Diaz had five kills, one block and five aces. Grasso is 0-2.

    • Bacon Academy rolled to a 25-14, 25-13 and 25-14 win over Windham. Emma Mancuso had five aces, four kills and two blocks for the Bobcats (2-1) while Kiera Stewart had 26 assists, Grace Gorreck eight kills, Olivia Ignazio six kills and Grace Galarneau 20 digs.

    • East Hampton rallied for a 3-2 victory over Old Lyme in the Shoreline Conference. Game scores were 16-25, 25-23, 19-25, 25-23 and 15-4. Melanie Warren had 25 digs and 10 kills for the Wildcats (1-2, 1-2) while Abby Speckhals added 27 digs and 25 assists and Abby Sicuranza had eight kills and three blocks.

    • Je'Licia Rivera had 14 points, four kills and one ace to highlight New London's 25-21, 25-13 and 25-13 loss to Plainfield. Nalyce Dudley added nine service points, six kills, two blocks and eight digs for the Whalers (1-2) while Wennonah Amar had two kills, eight assists and 12 digs, Jennifer Fiestas had seven serve points, seven digs and three assists, and Yarielis Ortiz had 10 digs before leaving in the second game due to injury.
